Snack & Show and Tell


Children are asked to bring their own snack to school daily. Allowing children to eat at any time during the class when they feel hungry gives them the opportunity to develop independence, and an understanding of their own needs.

 

**Due to severe allergies in some children, we prohibit ANY nuts or snacks with possible nuts in them to be served at school.

 

Our focus is on teaching healthy eating habits and promoting nutritious foods to children. Fruits, vegetables, grains, and dairy products are well received and colorful, attractive choices.

On your child's birthday a small birthday celebration with home made loafs, mini cupcakes, or a small home made cookie may be sent in for sharing. Once a month, a special helper will be able to present something of importance to his/her classmates.

Emergent Curriculum


With play-based STEAM, children explore the world through hands-on activities that ignite their imagination and problem-solving abilities. Learning becomes an adventure where creativity and fun lead the way.  Children in our program receive bi-weekly music instruction using percussion instruments such as hand drums and rhythm sticks to introduce musical concepts such as dynamics and tempo. There is also a bi-weekly science program where children are encouraged to have hands-on experiences and watch the "magic" happen! Monthly yoga lessons with a certified yoga instructor gives children self awareness, self-calming techniques, and promotes health and wellness.


Following the principles of the Early Learning Framework, our preschool staff work alongside children and document their learning interests and curiosities. We provide invitations to then promote children's learning and exploration of these topics, and give them the opportunity to problem solve and create projects based on the topics that interest them. Past projects have included topics such as "ocean creatures", "how does a plant grow", and "dinosaurs and fossils". We believe that learning is holistic, and that learning through play and experience is essential for children.

Parent Fee Reduction and Affordable Child Care Benefit


Our preschool is a part of the CCFRI - Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative- program, and as such, parents receive a month discount off tuition fees as funded by the BC government. As well, eligible families are assisted with applications and monthly claims for the Affordable Child Care Benefit.  Please enquire with us for current tuition fees.
